One of the most common forms of trauma I see everyday...

One of the most common forms of trauma I see EVERYDAY in women (besides birth and sexual boundary)…is medical trauma.

Procedures, treatments, assessments, examinations that are performed within a framework that REFUSES to see the body as anything but an object.

(Despite the GOOD and KIND providers who are doing their best to provide within this framework)

Women have gone too long with their bodies unheard. With their health compartmentalised.

Women deserve a level of care that feels like alchemy.

Where Intellect softens its edges in reverence to bodily intelligence.

A level of care that requires us as practitioners to thaw out the freeze and the numbing we have been taught.

A level of care that requires I touch a body with my senses. That I never remove the being from the body but hold them as a whole.

A level of care that pushes beyond the territory defined by a healthcare system that is so disembodied.

A level of care that nourishes.

A care that honors the intersection of science and mystery...because those of us who have saturated our lives in studying and learning from the female body have become WELL acquainted with mystery.

Personally I love that woman's body forever keeps us at the edges of mystery. The cyclical nature of our bodies asks us daily to tread the terrain of the unknown. It's psychedelic!

The healthcare system would serve women a lot more if we prioritized the relationship most essential and intrinsic to disrupting and re-shaping the current system of healthcare;

The relationship we have with our bodies.

Here’s to a revolution in women’s care where women’s bodies are heard.
